“We were ready to go, that’s for sure,” said assistant coach Nate Stephens. “It helps when you have good interior play, they gotta crunch in like that, we got some really good looks, and we capitalized on all of them.”

It didn’t look like it was going to be a blowout, from the start of the game, as West Hills and Yuba went back and forth with the lead. It was the three that gave Yuba the advantage, and by the end of the first half, the Niners found themselves up by 25.

“We shot the hell out of it,” said head coach Doug Cornelius, referring to the Niners efficiency from behind the arc.

A raucous sell-out crowd of well over 1,200 fans got behind Yuba and were loud throughout the night. Yuba now gets to play a tough Las Positas team, who downed Sierra College 71-67 on Friday, at home on Wednesday at 7:00. This win tonight marks 30 wins for Yuba, which is only the second such time it’s happened in the school’s history.

“It’s just one more step on the way to what we want to do, go to the State Championship,” said Cornelius.
