November 30, 2012 Bob Barton Leave a Comment

Last evening at the Yuba College gym, the Men’s basketball 49ers played in a single elimination tournament against Sacramento City College. This was the second game of a four team tourney. In the opening tip off American River College defeated Shasta to secure one off the spots in the Tournament Championship game. The 49ers faced off a tough Sac City squad in the closer, taking the early lead and maintaining defensive pressure throughout the contest. The 49ers kept to the task, shooting a better field goal percentage as the game progressed, opening a 15 point halftime advantage despite a strong effort by the Panthers of Sacramento.

In the second half, Yuba continued its defensive dominance, rebounding strongly on both ends of the floor. The offense showed good ball handling skills and play making as the game wore on. Shooting from beyond the three point line helped Yuba open an insurmountable lead by midway through the final stanza, eventually winning 93-79.

Please be apprised that the Championship game of the tournament will be this evening, November 30th,second tip off at 7pm at the Yuba College Gym. The consolation game will be Shasta vs. Sac City at 5pm. Come on out for an enjoyable experience. Bring the family if you can. Let’s support our 49ers basketball team in their drive for another state championship appearance in their division.
