AGE Of DISCONCERTING

Perhaps those that came before me found a better world? No one will ever know because the truth about history is never written. We simply go by what the victors wrote. I walk the streets at night for the human companionship. The loneliness I feel is not exclusive to me as a human being, but rather a human affection belonging to humanity as a whole. Walking through Old Chinatown in the city of Marysville, the streets are abandoned, and the windows of the Silver Dollar Restaurant are dark and if you are not particularly observant, you will overlook the historic Chinese Temple that remains in the dark shadows behind the Silver Dollar. It is the Chinese Bok Kai Temple of an earlier Marysville: When the town thrived with gold Prospectors and Frontier men and Pioneers seeking out promises of fortune, in the land of plenty. Now the streets are deserted and they look like the streets of any empty ghost town. The human qualities of hope, love, recognition and acceptance, that characterize the human heart and the dynamics that direct human nature to care for the things they love, have gone astray from the once thriving area of Old Marysville. And the only living things that move at night are the falling leafs on this empty street, swept by the wind, and an apathetic passing car. A few miles down the road, between Beale Air Force Base and Marysville is Yuba College. Where promising new generations of intelligent minds are learning, and it is the end of the Fall semester, and the Students are preparing for Finals, and reviewing what they have learned. And though there is not enough time in the day, there is time to give………….
