The Associated Students of Yuba College held an unofficial meeting on October 13 and an official meeting the of October 20. No meeting was held October 27.
At the October 20 meeting the ASYC discussed the pink Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons that they handed out. The council distributed more than 100 ribbons. Each of the Yuba College staff received one, and students have been seen sporting them around campus.
October 19 though October 25 the ASYC held a Halloween office decorating contest.In the Large Office division, first place went to the Testing Center while second place went to Counseling, CalWORKS, ESL. In the Medium Office division, first place went to Media Services while second went to the Library’s circulation desk. Lastly, in the Small Office Division, first place went to Distance Education and second went to Research.
First prize was an office luncheon for 10 prepared by the Food Service Management class, and Second prize was a gift certificate for Jamba Juice in Yuba City.
Top Honorable Mention went to “A Stroll through Yuba College’s History,” preformed by Student Services, Public Information Office, Public Events, Office of Instruction and Vocational Education, narrated by Phil Krebs.
The council has also discussed America Recycles Day saying that Yuba-Sutter Disposal Inc. will be on campus November 15, encouraging students to recycle. Yuba-Sutter Disposal will have the colored totters on campus to educate the public how to use them properly.
The ASYC is also discussing food distribution for Thanksgiving. Though the distribution plan is in its early stages, the ASYC is now looking for the families that will receive the meals.
The ASYC office is located in the southwest corner of the cafeteria, under the stairs. ASYC office hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 to 2:50 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2:30 pm. ASYC meetings are held every Thursday, from 12 to 12:50 pm.
