On September 16, the Associated Students of Yuba College got ready to plan out its activities for the 2004-05 academic year. So far, because of delays and training of the new officers, there is little planed. However, the cabinet does have at least four things planed for Yuba College students. A Marysville Site Council representative approached the ASYC about helping with the purchase of club flags that would be hung in the cafeteria. The flags cost a minimum of $100 and as much as $250, depending on the design. The ASYC is willing to sponsor the active clubs for the minimum of $100 towards purchasing each flag. Anything beyond that amount will be part of each club’s budget. Knowing how hard it is to the students who live in the dorms and are far from their homes, the ASYC has decided to throw the dorm students a Halloween party. On the fist proposed day, Friday, October 29, the ASYC has tentatively planed a costume contest and horror movies. The next night would offer more horror movies. Then in November, because some students stay home over Thanksgiving break, the ASYC has proposed an ASYC Thanksgiving dinner on November 18.
Another ASYC goal is to work with the coaches of the volleyball and football teams this year to promote athletics at the college. They are proposing to the coaches that the athletic department have free soda vouchers printed on the tickets to the game, with ASYC buying the soda for each ticket.
