March 5, 2001 Staff Leave a Comment

In 120 years of celebrating the festival honoring the Chinese water god, Bok Eye, never before had it significantly rained upon the Bok Kai parade in Marysville. However, on the 121st year of the ceremony, ushering in the Year of the Snake, the rain came down. Although the historic storm brought wind and rain throught the day, the spirit of the Bok Kai celebration endured, and thousands braved the elements to participate in, and observe, the annual event.Bok Kai festivities concluded with the Bomb Day event, where a rope ring is launched into the air by a large firework.
