During his appearance at the candidate forum which was held at Yuba College on October 21, 2010, Charles Shumacher said that he “will fight for the students”.
Charles Shumacher is a father to six and a grandfather to twenty-one. He has a personal reason for running. His daughter and granddaughter attended Yuba College and he was asked by students to run.
“I think Yuba College is a great learning institution,” he stated.
Also, he announced that he has never belonged to a union or worked for the government. “I have no allegiance to anyone with an agenda. I believe in honesty, integrity, and independence.”
The question that he drew from the hat was, “What will you do to ensure a full summer session?” Schumacher was not sure he could promise such things as he would only be one member on the board but he did say, ” I would fight for it. It would be a joke if I said I could promise it to be done, but I would fight for it. It is important, necessary, and good for this area.”
In Closing, Schumacher passionately spoke about voting with a comedic edge,
“College students should realize that voting is a wonderful responsibility. We can’t rely on other people to fix things, we need to take a look in the mirror at ourselves. If you sit by idly and bitch and moan and don’t do anything about it you deserve what you get. This is the end of my civics lecture. I am Charles Schumacher and I approve this message.”
