Yuba’s head baseball coach, Tim Gloyd, has over 30 years of coaching and playing experience behind him. Gloyd has been with Yuba College since 1997 and has helped over 62 students to transfer to Division 1 universities and even get signed with teams like the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres.
Gloyd also was the manager of the Sutter Gold Sox, which became popular through the numerous wins on their record in 2002. Also Gloyd coached at CSU Sacramento for 10 year where he won 417 games, two Division 2 World Series and five regional tournaments. He coached eight Division 2 All Americans, three Division 1 All Americans and three “Big Leaguers.”
Gloyd has also coached at four other universities and colleges. In 1978 while playing at Sacramento City College, he won All-State player, drafted in the first round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. But he didn’t sign with them. He waited one more year when he set high records in 1979 while playing for Pepperdine University. He finished 3rd at the College World Series, All-American, and broke the World Series stolen-base record with eight bags in five games. Gloyd was drafted twice at Pepperdine (6th rnd., Cardinals; 7th rnd., Dodgers).
