Ryan Martin is the place kicker and punter for the Yuba College 49ers Football Team. He may seem like a 19 year old who has been playing football his entire life, however, that is not true.
Ryan started play football when he was a freshman at Bishop Blanchet. He noticed that his friends were playing so he decided to give it a shot. When he figured out that kicking far and hard came naturally to him he knew this was his sport.
Five years later, Ryan is still kicking his way through each season.
What helps him get pumped up before a game? His coach, Ted Hoal, the head coach encourages each and every player to play in honor of someone who has helped them, that they would like to help back.
Ryan’s motivation to play his best during each game in hopes of getting a scholarship to a four-year college. His idol, who is also his father, will not have to pay for the expensive semesters to come. He has yet to pick a college. All he does know, is that he hopes to continue to play football when he transfers to a university.
