This year’s graduation ceremony will be a special one for the graduates. For many, it marks the start of a new chapter in their lives, whether they go on to a four-year university, stay at Yuba College for another degree, or start working full time in their respective careers. As a reporter and a fellow graduate, I am pleased to be getting my degree.
The speaker for the Commencement and Awards Breakfast will be Frances Hutton, and the topic for her speech will be, “I Hope You Dance.” The speaker for the Commencement Evening Ceremony will be Kierre Stowes, who will be speaking about the subject of “Training Wheels.”
Graduates may purchase caps and gowns for $25 and packs of ten announcement cards for $13 at the college bookstore. The caps and gowns are optional, but also they are recommended. The bookstore is open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Commencement and Awards Breakfast will be held on Friday, May 25, 2001. The tickets will be priced at $2.50 per graduate and $5 per guest (limit 2 per graduate). The Rehearsal will be held that same day at 10:15 a.m. in Room 400, at the College Theatre Terrace. Later that day, at that same place (in the Dining Commons) with all the graduates in line by 7:30 p.m., the ceremony will officially be held.
Happy Graduation to all who are going to graduate!
