David Wheeler spoke at the candidates forum about his connection with the community.
David Wheeler has spent the last 35 years — 30 hours a week — teaching He believes this makes him qualified for the board position.
Wheeler also has a history here; once a student at Yuba College, “All I was able to achieve started here.” Wheeler’s three children also attended Yuba College and moved on to achieve their goals.
He explained his understanding of the importance for students to have the classes they need. He promised, “I will make sure you have the sections you need and that this area gets its fair share of funding.”
The question that Wheeler pulled from the hat asked what his feelings were about the intended 30,000 dollar raise. In response he said, ” I feel it was wrong, wrong, wrong.”
He went on to say that he would not look towards “unproportional” spending. In closing,”I have lived in this community and my family’s business is in this community.” He closed by telling a story about unconditional love, the type of relationship he explained he feels for the community.
