Do you have a passion for animals? Do you like people? Interested in working with large or small animals, exotics or in a laboratory? Want a job that is actually in demand and incorporates the things you love? Then consider the Veterinarian Technician program at Yuba College.
Yuba College’s Veterinary Technician program not only offers the Veterinary Technician degree but also offers a variety of certificate of achievement programs. If you are more interested in office work, a Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant certificate course is offered. If you would like an opportunity to work for the USDA or for drug or food manufacturing companies think about the Veterinary Public Health and Food Safety certificate. All of these courses are offered online and there are internships arranged with one of the local veterinarians.
The Veterinary Technician program is a two year program, once the prerequisites are completed and out of the way. You will learn how to take x-rays and blood, assist in dental care, skilled nursing care, lab test such as preparing tissue samples and surgical procedures. Upon graduation you may take the state test and once you have passed you will become a Registered Veterinary Technician. The job field is open and you can work any where in the United States and in a variety of jobs.
