Students returned to Yuba College this spring to find a long list of classes that have been cancelled. The cancellations are in response to Governor Gray Davis’ proposed state budget cuts, including a one billion dollar cut to Community College education over an 18-month period.
Approximately 230 classes were canceled this semester at Yuba College’s campuses, including 84 from the main Marysville campus, 49 from the Yuba College at Yuba City campus, 34 from the Beale Air Force Base campus, 6 Distributive Education courses, 25 from the Clear Lake campus and 32 from the Woodland Campus.
The spring semester cancellations come after Yuba College canceled the entire Winter Intersession semester at the Marysville and Woodland campuses. The Intersession cancellation saved the Yuba Community College District approximately $50,000– 20 percent of the estimated one million dollar cut the district will take in the 2002/2003 school year.
