FDA & CDC Sits On Thumbs?

May 6, 2009 Staff Leave a Comment

Here we are again, wigging out at our TV screens. Why? Because it’s recently been announced that our nation is looking at salmonella contamination in pistachio nuts. The nuts and products containing them are being recalled all over the place. Sound familiar? It should. In the aftermath of a very large, very recent battle with salmonella in peanuts (reference Prospector article: “Bad News for Peanut Butter Lovers”) and products containing them, we now face the same BS all over again. Illness and the subsequent hospital fees, even death in some cases.

There has also been tell of alfalfa sprouts being contaminated as well. This is all very disconcerting and has led me to wonder: where the hell are the FDA and CDC? Shouldn’t somebody be doing their job to make sure more people don’t get sick? Hey, FDA and CDC: Newsflash– you dropped the damn ball…again! I hope somebody gets fired over this. It’s an outrage, and a joke. In a world where we don’t really know what we’re eating anymore, the agencies responsible for our health seem to be sitting on their thumbs. This might be a good time to try out that new diet. Although, I’d stay away from spinach, tomatoes, sprouts, nuts…. Ah hell, nevermind.
