The Yuba College baseball team is out to an .500 start finishing a 2-2 record at the Palm Desert Tourney. Led by strong hitting sophomore sensation Kelly Buber and true freshman pitcher Ryan Zaft, the Yuba 49ers beat San Diego City College and Reedley College. Kelly Buber led the 49ers in hitting with 12 hits and a pair of home runs. Freshman phenom right-hander Ryan Zaft got the win against San Diego City College. Zaft is already out to an 2-0 record this year following his first ever college start last week at the Yuba exibition tourney. Zaft is the Ace of the staff heading into this years campaign and should lead a very powerful Yuba team.
“In my first start last week I was so nervous and shaky. It took me a few innings to shake it off “, said Zaft.
In the first and last games of the tourney Yuba was dropped twice by Palm Desert College. Both games Yuba was within two runs of Palm Desert.
This weekend Yuba goes back to L.A. for the last time this year for one more tournament. Yuba will open against the number two team in the state, Questa College, on Friday afternoon.
