Once again the Yuba College men’s basketball team was victorious in a home double billing. This win came against an overmatched Solano College team on Friday night. The victory improved the 49ers record to 15-6, having reeled off eight straight wins. From the outset the game was never in doubt. The 49ers coasted to a 71-59 win although the game was somewhat sloppy and Both teams shot poorly from the field.

The real gem of the night came from the women’s team. The Lady Niners once again played with great intensity in a hard fought game. The final score of 65-40 was not indicative of the girls valiant effort in defeat. This team always plays tough continuing to exhibit lots of potential and good ability.

In all actuality the women’s games tend to be more interesting from a personal interest standpoint for the average basketball fan. The character displayed on a game to game basis by the girls is enjoyable to watch. For a community college school sports team there is a great deal of interesting topics of which to report about this years Yuba College Lady Niners. The Prospector has decided to make this a focal point of coverage for future postings.
