I doubt there is anyone on this campus that has not thought about finding a nice, chill spot, and just taking a long, well deserved nap. Often this is after you have spent all night battling through that nightmare English essay or that Statistics disaster that had you pulling your hair out for a week. You were trying to keep yourself going by pounding energy drinks and/or coffee all night, but you got it done. You are beat, you have one more class in an hour, then you can finally go home, but you really need that nap, right now!
You know you need to crash, but where? You might try your vehicle but then you have to deal with the heat and the daily parking lot distractions, the car next to you blaring music you just haven’t learned to appreciate yet, and/or the couple on the other side, dry humping on the trunk of their car like porn stars.
So where can you go, that you can escape from Kelly Clarkson and the afternoon parking lot porn show? You know what your looking for, comfort, piece of mind and nobody that is going to bother you.
Well the answers have been solved by the infamous Music professor, Dr. Mathews. He and Randy Joslin, Director of Maintenance and Operations, worked together in getting the hammocks hung in the trees outside the Music Department. Yes, your reading that right, three hammocks are available to any student in need of some relaxation or maybe just that quick nap after lunch. The best part, the guy that thinks a license plate rattle is cool every time the bass hits, isn’t there! Ya, you know who you are.
Instead, there is only the peace of the wind in the trees and birds singing, with the only possibility of music being a guitar or piano being played in the practice rooms of the Music Department. Creating the perfect scenario to put you right to sleep or that perfect state of relaxation before that next class.
If you are interested in trying out the hammocks,go for it, all students are welcome to use them because this is who they are intended for. Just ask Dr Mathews where they are located and go for it. Just be sure that it is not a mow day and that you remember to set the alarm on your phone so you don’t miss your next class.
