“There’s nothing to do in this town.” For those of us who reside in the Yuba Sutter area, this is not an uncommon statement. It is however, a false one. Hidden beneath its small and quiet atmosphere is lots of family fun, and entertainment for all ages.
On a rainy day, instead of bundling up by a fire indoors, bundle up in a warm coat, and head down to the Marysville Flea market’s go kart track, and hop in for a slippery ride. At $5 a ride you can slip and slide around the windy track with your whole family, or a group of friends. This go kart track is open seven days a week, rain or shine, and located at 1468 Simpson Lane in Marysville. Have a small child in your group? No problem, strap them in by your side to join in the fun, or let them ride their own mini car on the children’s track. Coming soon to the speedway will be an eighteen-hole miniature golf course, which is still under construction.
Racing fans gather ’round! During the months of April through September, on Saturday nights, watch the Twin Cities Speedway’s collection of both local and visiting racers show off their skills with; dwarfs, midgets, stocks, mini stocks, and everyone’s favorite, sprints.
Follow these racers from the green flag, through the flying mud, avoiding flipping cars, disputing black flags, and finally to cross the finish line to see that famous checker flag. The speedways are at the same location, which makes for a memorable, and most convenient time. This is definitely a top pick for all around entertainment.
Every Thursday night poets, a Capella singers, and instrumentalists of all kinds, come in to Brick Coffee House, on D St. in Marysville, and let your voice be heard. Open mike night lasts from 7pm to 10 pm, and is open to everyone.
If you’re a sports fan that’s looking for something to do indoors during this unpredictable weather, stop by Twin Cities Batting Cages, held within Future Fitness Gym in Yuba City. These batting cages not only offer baseball pitches, but softball pitches as well. The starting cost for fifteen pitches, of either style, is $5 and they are open Mon-Sat. This is a great way to keep up your skills during the off-season.
