High School Athlete of the Week

October 8, 2008 Staff Leave a Comment

During the First week of 2008 football season, the Sutter High Huskies already knew they were going to be on top. They already knew that they were going to win State. The only real question on the players’ minds was, “where are we going to fit that next trophy?” The Huskies have been champions for decades, and they don’t seem like they are planning on ruining that reputation anytime soon.

That first week, the Ferris Saxon Football team of Ferris, Texas had the first taste of the Sutter Huskies’ talent when Sutter beat them 38-9. Among all the amazing talent on the Sutter Huskies team, one teammate seems to stand taller than the others, literally! His name is Isiah Bowman.

Isiah Bowman is 6’7″ defensive end and wide receiver. He started playing football when he was just a freshman and has been in love with the sport ever since.

Isiah is only a junior but already has talent scouts trying to get him to attend their colleges. Though they may be promising him football scholarship, he already has chosen the one college he intends to attend in two years: Oregon State.

Isiah is going to continue to play football in college and hopefully turn his passion for the sport into a career. “I love playing football. I want to someday play for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.” He said. Whenever he walks onto the field with his team and hears everyone cheer, he feels motivated to play his best. “It’s without a doubt the best feeling in the world.” For now, Isiah is going to have to get motivated in high school football before he gets motivated with the big leagues.

It seems like Isiah Bowman has the heart and passion to make it all the way to the NFL and become a long life legend.
