In-N-Out Burger is now in Yuba City. The restaurant makes everything fresh, including hand-picked lettuce to fresh-made French fries cooked in a 100 percent pure cholesterol-free vegetable oil. In-N-Out makes everything the old fashioned way. In-N-Out must be doingsomething right. On March 26, Yuba City’s new In-N-Out opened its doors for the first time to the masses of people waiting for hours for the doors to open. Many of those people had been waiting in line or camping in front of the building waiting to get in toorder. Two weeks before the restaurant opened, an estimated 2000 applicants waited in line to get an interview. Andrew Franzen of Yuba City said that the groups of people “reminded him of pictures of men stand in the unemployment line during the Great Depression.” What makes this restaurant so specia? Is it the food? Or is it the ten dollars an hour? Out of all the people that tried to get this job only 50 to 60 people were hired. So how did this fast food placechoose people? William Burroughs, who was flown up from Los Angeles to train new employees, explained that the managers hired people based on their personalities and not onjob experience. Many people stood in line hoping to get an interview, but only a small number of people got picked. Those who passed their first interview were required to go through one more interview in order to get a job. The In-N-Out franchise is estimated at 360 million dollars and has become one of the most-loved fast food restaurants in California, Nevada, and Arizona. This franchise will continue to grow with all the support of the millions of fans. The first In-N-Out was opened in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California, as a drivethru stand, which eventually grew into the private business it is today. Even though they are expanding, they still stand by their values and create the freshest food around. In-N-Out is known for the red and white uniforms that always look clean, Bible references on the bottom of the cups, and the Not So Secret Menu. Items not on its regular menu include the Animal Style burger, made with lettuce, tomato, a mustard cooked beef patty, pickles, extra spread and grilled onions. Lastly, this company is known for cleanliness and the quality of its food. All these qualities make up the In-N-Outof today.
