With the arrival of a new president, Yuba College has found a much needed stability. Dr. G. H. Javaheripour, who started as president in February 2015, is a professional leader devoted to long term commitment.
In an attempt to increase stability, Yuba College had been looking for several years to restore balance within the office of the president, and, in Javaheripour, they finally found someone who is capable of meeting the needs of college.
Javaheripour has provided stability to other positions at the college. Some of the short term hires have now established their respective jobs. Some of these include Athletic Director Erick Burns, Dean of Applied Academics Daren Otten, Director of Public Safety Doctor Pete Villarreal, and Dean of STEM Karsten Stemmann. Javaheripour has made great strides to incorporateunity and a strong work ethic and throughout his own staff and other positions at the college.
He has been a mentored in his position as president from the Yuba Community College District’s Chancellor Douglas Houston.
The president attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. After that he got his Masters from Webster University, and further went to get his Doctorate from the University of New Mexico.
“I feel very comfortable and connected with Yuba College,” Javaheripour said. Having been raised in Iran, he feels at home at the college, mainly because of the students’ diverse cultures ethnicities. Indeed, out of all the places he has worked, he likes Yuba College the most, he said.
According to Javaheripour, we must provide an excellent education to our students, so when the students graduate they really feel proud of the accomplishments and the hard work they put into graduating from Yuba College.
Yuba College, which includes the Marysville campus, the Sutter County Campus and Beale Campus, collaborates with other colleges, including Shasta College and Sierra College, to give the students more opportunities to complete more classes that apply to the curriculum at the community college level.
