Sacramento City College never stood a chance on the September 17 game against the 49ers women’s soccer team. Outgoaled 6-1, the rival college lost all hope of even the remote chance of winning the game. Last night’s game, the 17th, was a great victory for the 49er women.
Leading in the first half of the game 1-0, Sac City thought that there was a chance of winning, but the Yuba women crushed that hope. Aurora Becerra in the first half tied the game 1-1 with the pass being from Christine Swartz. Emily Vierra then passed the ball to Kim Vargas, who put the Yuba women in a 2-1 lead.
After that first goal, the balls kept coming at the Sac City goalie who could not keep them away.
In the second half, Taryn Lemere, Kristin Grant and Ashley Goheen scored goals, while Kim Vargas scored her second goal for the game. Becerra, Goheen and Elaine McCaulley, all had assists.
Onlooker, Sonia Chavez, said, ” Once the team had the 2-1 lead, I knew that the 49ers were going to win. Sac City did not have a chance with how good the Yuba defense was. I mean, that team only got in one goal the entire game.”
