After coming off a surprising and rare playoff appearance last season, the Yuba College men’s Soccer Team are determined to make the playoffs as traditional as Christmas. The men’s team has opened up to a surprising 4-1-1 record on the strength of returning players and new recruits. The returning players are lead by Oliver Armstrong of Modesto, Eric Evans of Roseville, and Patrick Silva of Modesto.
The team will have an uphill climb though, with the loss of key players prior to the season. The big shoes of “Coach” Aaron Daley, who played, will have to be filled by the entire players collectively. But perhaps the biggest loss of the off-season wasn’t one but two outstanding goalies, Kealii Kealue and Mike Nelson.
“Mike is really going to be missed,” said Eric Evans_________. “He was a real leader and he inspired us all to be better players. He had a good sense of humor and made the locker room really lose and laid back.” The slack left at goalie has been filled by Dustin Biso, and Justin Burbera.
