Lal Chima – Sutter County Candidate

October 25, 2010 Eva Dunham Leave a Comment

Lal Chima spoke at the Candidate forum held at Yuba College about working together through the difficult times.

“We are in difficult times, but we can get past it if we work together,” said Lal Chima, in his opening statement at the forum. He spoke of teachers and how they need to feel recognized and important; “right now that is not the case.”

He also voiced how he would handle unnecessary positions in administration, “I want facts and figures and I want to know how the third level of administration is important. If it is vital, it needs to stay. If it isn’t, it needs to go.”

He plans on investigating what funds are available and putting forth an effort in matters that need improvement. He expressed one tactic that he may employ, “If you get one administrator good and drunk they will tell you everything.”

In closing Chima spoke of his experience in working with people, citing his trianing in conflict management. Chima also said he will be involved with the students, and that he would be on campus asking questions. He has the time to do this, due to his upcoming retirement.

Chima later said, “I want to make a difference.”
