Sophomore sensation Jake Rydman made it to the Northern California Championships but fell short of qualifying for State Championships, bringing an end to the men’s cross-country season.
Head coach Rick Browning said that new rules made it harder for individuals (those who are not part of a NorCal qualifying team) to qualify for state this year, and since the rest of the team did not attend the Conference Championships after an illness ravaged the team, Rydman was put at a disadvantage.
At the Conference Championships held at the new Folsom State Recreational Area on October 31, Rydman set a personal record of 22:46 and took 22nd overall to advance as an individual.
At the Northern Califonia Championships he ran a 23:54 and placed 64th overall, not enough to advance to state.
This is the last year Rydman is eligible to compete for Yuba.
