The Yuba College Music Sale, that was held in the library, was a hit. Everything went for extremely low prices. There were some items that are normally quite pricey such as sonatas, concertos, and entire symphonies, which sold for cheap.
Yuba College music professor Robert Mathews said, ” It does my heart good to see that, due to the generosity of the donor, music lovers were able to purchase such great music for a fraction of what it would cost new.”
The excitement of the sale led one student to purchase a turntable just so she could take advantage of the sale.
Anything that wasn’t purchased by students, was bought out entirely by Sam Provenzano, an adjunct English teacher. The Prospector caught up with Provenzano in the library packing up his music onto carts and wheeling them out. He said he didn’t know what he was going to do with it all, but he did say with a certainty, “I love music.”
He did not share the price he paid for the items but he did say, “No Price is too much to pay for the things you love.” He seemed very pleased with his purchase as he packed it up to take it home.
Mathews said, “I was especially gratified that every single item was sold.”
What a wonderful success.
