No BVC Win For Women Yet

January 31, 2005 Staff Leave a Comment

The Yuba College women’s basketball team is still looking for that BVC win. Although the women are 5-12 in non-league games, they are 0-6 for league, and that is what counts.

The 49er’s lost 86-73 to Sierra College at their last home game on Tuesday, January 25th. Alisha Taylor and Elaine McCaulley each scored 12 points in the first half, bringing the women to a 33-28 lead. However, Sierra outscored them in the last half and by the end of the third quarter, Sierra obtained a 49-35 lead.

Trista Rossi scored a game high 18 points, while Taylor accumulated 15 points. McCaulley netted a total of 14 points.

Coach Bob Brown felt that part of the reason the girls lost was because most of the girls on his team play two to three sports and they are not able to focus solely on basketball whereas on the other teams that they compete against, such as Sierra, most of their players play ball all year long.
