Questions Are Still Surfacing At Yuba College Today

March 7, 2011 Heather Meunier Leave a Comment

It has been an interesting day at Yuba College, to say the least. An investigation is still under way as the search for the “cookie burglar(s)” continues. Administration, Staff, and faculty are doing a great job of fulfilling the “show must go on” attitude to keep down the gossip and speculations of students as they continue their search for answers regarding the several offices and buildings that were broken into some time during the weekend. Although petty cash, equipment and supplies have all been reported stolen, we still have no information as to whether or not any privacy/confidential files or paperwork have been reported missing.

The person or persons who broke into these offices, using a sub-master key, left a trail of Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies, stolen from one office and discarded in another. The cookies must have filled their tummies because ironically, no food was stolen from Flavors Restaurant where the cookies were abandoned.

Chef Rick Prondzinski, the Culinary Instructor, explains that nothing of value is kept in the office. He had learned that lesson from a previous break-in several years ago.  Prondzinski reports that in his 60 years, he has often seen karma come back on people and has no doubt that justice will be served to the thief or thieves that, as he says, “Seem to have had a fun time taking things that belonged to others.” He also jokingly pondered aloud as to why his work crocs and hat weren’t stolen, concluding that, “The thief must have no taste!”

The Yuba College Police Department (P.D.) assures us that we will be able to view the police reports on Wednesday, March 8. If you have any information regarding these incidents, please contact the Yuba College P.D.  at (530)741-6772.

Keep checking back for the most up-to-date information.

Editor’s Note:  There has been no indication as to whether the reported web-cams have yielded any identifiable suspects or not.
