The Yuba Community College District Board of Trustees will meet to discuss the “process” that will be undertaken for the hiring of a new chancellor to replace Chancellor Harrington.
This meeting will take place at 4:30 pm on Friday, February 4, at the Woodland campus.
As of today, this information has not been distributed in writing. However, both Trustee Gary Sandy and Student Trustee George Cheso were given the same verbal information concerning this meeting, date, time, location, and subject matter.
Sandy presumes “that this will be a meeting that is open to the public.”
Cheso agrees. “I was invited to the meeting, and I am not invited to closed sessions,” he said.
Sandy stated that the discussion will concern “what the process will entail, how to go about the recruitment process, and who is involved.”
It is Sandy’s understanding that there are 20 to 30 community colleges looking for chancellors or presidents this year. “We appear to be entering a highly competitive market in this search,” he said.
Chancellor Harrington submitted her resignation at the Board meeting on Wednesday, January 19.
