Woodland Community College held a ‘registration blitz’ day on December 7 in the lounge during college hour to remind students to register early and avoid registration woes. Woodland Community College students enjoyed nachos and punch while a live DJ mixed popular songs.
Near the conclusion of the event, prizes were given out in a raffle for registered students. Among the prizes given away was an IPOD NANO, a $50 gift card for Target, and another $50 credit for the WCC bookstore. The event was coordinated by Dr. Stacey Cook, the Dean of Student Services, and Annet Krezman, her student assistant.
Registration can be a painful experience for students who do not register early. Priority classes such as English 1A, Chemistry 1A, and Psychology are usually full when January rolls around. Students are then forced to attend classes in hopes of adding, or to pick alternate courses.
Waiting until the last minute can be even more worrisome for students who need a course to fulfill a graduation or transfer requirement but discover the class is at capacity. These problems can all be avoided with a little bit of planning and a few simple clicks of a mouse.
In addition to emphasizing early regidtration, the administrators would like to see all students register on TeleReg or on the website. The registration office at WCC hopes to eliminate student registration at the registration desk. More and more colleges are utilizing technology and requiring that students register online only.
Are you registered yet? Don’t fall into the category of stressed out class hunter. Register if you haven’t already done so.
