Yuba College student Anabel A. Navarro 18, of Rio Oso, died February 7, as a result of a tragic automobile accident.
She was on her way to the Marysville campus just before 8 a.m. for her Monday classes when her car was struck at the intersection of Ostrom and Virginia Roads east of Highway 65 in Wheatland. There were no other fatalities.
A Yuba-Sutter resident for 15 years, Anabel Navarro is survived by her six-month old daughter, Moncerrat Abigail, and her parents, Irma and Luis Navarro.
Born on March 17, 1986, in Nayarit, Mexico, Navarro was an only child and moved to California at the age of three with her parents. She was a loving and doting mother to her six-month old baby girl, whom she was raising as a single parent.
She attended Browns Elementary School in Rio Oso and East Nicolaus High School. Navarro was in her second semester at Yuba College with long-term goals to apply for the college’s Nursing program this summer and study to become a Registered Nurse. Visitation and Rosary recitation were held on Thursday, February 10, at the Lipp & Sullivan Chapel in Marysville. The burial was conducted Friday, February 11, at the St. Joseph’s catholic Church in Marysville.
Navarro was loved and respected by her peers and elders and will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives she touched. She is described by close friends as a warm, funny character with an incredible love for her family.
