Scope of Weekend Burglary Growing With New Information

The scope of the burglary that happened over the weekend here at Yuba College is becoming clearer as new information is coming out – including what was stolen, and who was broken into.

So far as we know, Yuba College President Kay Adkins and Vice President Kevin Trutna’s offices have been broken into, along with Flavors, and Dean of Student Development David Farrell’s office. Items stolen include petty cash, materials, and in the case of Dean Farrell’s’ office, items belonging to the Crisis Center. It’s currently unknown if any confidential information has been stolen.

Worse yet is the fact that no signs of forced entry have been found, meaning the burglar, or burglars, had a key to make their thefts. It should be noted that Yuba College only uses one key for a number of locks on campus, including the administration offices, Flavors, and the Library.

Rick Prondzinski was the first to have made the discovery that there was a burglary, noting that Flavors office and cooking area had been broken into; noting that the place looked like a “mini tornado” had hit the building, with doors, drawers and cabinets opened.  A half-eaten box of Girl Scout cookies from Adkin’s office was found in the Flavors office

Adrian Lopez, Director of Public and Governmental Relations here at Yuba College, could not comment due to the ongoing investigation, nor would the Yuba Community College District Police Department, asking The Prospector to contact them later in the day as their investigation wraps up.

If anyone has any information regarding the burglary, please call the Yuba Community College District Police Department, at 741-6771.

The Prospector will have more information and will update as the investigation continues.
