Scott Peterson Found Guilty on All Counts

November 29, 2004 Staff Leave a Comment

At about 1 p.m. Friday afternoon Scott Peterson was found guilty on all counts of murder in Redwood City.

The jury took seven hours to vote unanimously that Peterson was guilty on first-degree murder for the death of his wife, second-degree murder for the death of his son, and special circumstances.

Being guilty on the two counts of murder makes Peterson eligible for the death penalty in California.

The jury will now take a break for one week, and then return for the sentencing phase of the trial. This phase is estimated to continue until November 30th.

Legal analysts say that defense attorney Mark Geragos has to now switch gears and prove his client has the right to live, instead of his innocence.
