Shopping on a dime

For bargain shopping, the Marysville swap meet is the place to be on Sunday! Get there early in the morning for the best bargains. Vendors start selling around 7 a.m. and usually close-up around 2 p.m. In the summer, it gets warm on the blacktop so, arriving early in key. Bring a cart if you have one, otherwise you may make several trips to your car with all of your purchases.

At the entrance, a space is designated for buying and selling used cars. Sellers usually stay close to the cars that they are trying to sell in order to answer questions for potential buyers.

If you would like to sell no longer needed items, a booth rental is $20 approx. for the day. This includes a table to set your belongings on, and a designated space to sell

Moving into a new apartment or your first apartment? The swap meet offers gently used items to furnish your first ‘digs’ including: pots, pans, sheets, towels, silverware and much more. Often, vendors sell larger items including beds, washers, dryers and dressers. Moving into a house? Lawn mowers, edgers and trash cans are often available for purchase at a reasonable price. Vegetable and fruit plants are available for purchase to begin a garden or flowers to enhance your yard.

Local vendors offer everything for the college student; iPhone covers, backpacks and vintage clothing. For the ladies; handbags, designer makeup and $1 costume jewelry are just a few of the items available for purchase. Name brand shirts and jeans go for cheap, as well. Vans, Abercrombie, MAC are just some of the name brands that can be found at the swap meet.

For the gentlemen; tools are always abundant and DVD’s go for a couple of bucks a piece. Old school video games are in ample supply. Want to stock your fridge?  A farmers market is available year round. The prices rival any grocery store and much of the produce in local, grown without pesticides.

Looking for your first pet? Cats, kittens, turtles, dogs, birds and an occasional pot bellied pig are known to be found at the swap meet. Farm animals are often for sale including: goats, chickens, sheep and roosters. In the summer, a bouncy house for the kids is available, as well as pony rides.

I can be found at the swap meet almost every Sunday. I have purchased some great items at cheap prices including: a new  in box Cuisinart ice cream maker for 5 bucks. A food processor for $5. I bought a an end table for $3, a lamp for a buck, a large pot with steamer for $5, and way too much costume jewelry.

A snack bar provides coffee, and doughnuts for the morning crowd, as well as burritos and churros for the late sleepers. Or, end your day with a grilled burger or a fish taco from Antonio’s.
