Last night’s rehearsal ended with heavy criticism from our director, across the board, except for two characters (Good job John and Alex). His main two stage notes for everyone last night were that we were rushing through our lines and that we had very little character development. Basically, our rehearsal was pretty bad.
I was pointed out specifically as the one with the least character development and, yes, I deserved it. My character has not been nearly roguish or angry enough. I simply have to work harder and reach down way deep inside to figure out this character. When one is stressed out in their personal life, it will most definitely affect their performance, and it will be very obvious to everyone. I mentioned on my facebook post for this weeks blog that I felt it was my fault for being so distracted and everyone could feel it, but Tyler (Valere) insightfully pointed out that we are a team and that we all messed up.
I know, and I feel everyone else in the cast knows, that we are a talented ensemble and we will find our motivation and groove.
So to the cast specifically, I apologize for my poor performance, and I know you guys are feeling the stress so please take some time to meditate, breathe, find your space, and come in with renewed excitement and zeal. I know we have it in us somewhere!

We have been working our butts off for the past few rehearsals in an effort to never hear the words “You guys just aren’t ready” from our director ever again. In fact, we haven’t been nearly as terrible since that one night. Right after our “bad night” everyone seemed to buckle down and really tighten up our play by developing our characters and really emphasizing our diction and projection.
October 2, 2014 is our last rehearsal as well as a free preview night for friends and family and our first presentation to an audience of any kind. This will help give us an idea how people will respond to us on stage October 3, 2014 is our first actual performance and I know we will be ready.

Last night was preview night and it was a lot of fun. It was our first performance in front of an audience and our first time hearing people laugh at our antics on stage. The cast now has a general idea of where laughs will occur and where they need to slow down their lines or project their voices louder.
A few of us were able to discuss our performances with our loved ones and they were very helpful in suggesting ways to improve as well as things to be sure and keep in our performance.
To those friends and family who did come, thank you so much for your participation! You have no idea how helpful it is to have such support. Tonight is our opening performance and I believe that having already performed for you, tonight can only be better!
