Aya Ueda is the music director for Yuba College’s production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” Ueda has been a proud member of the Yuba College staff for 9 years and still continues to be an enthusiastic supporter of the music arts.
Her career began in her childhood; at just six years old, Ueda practiced piano and shifted towards singing in high school. She then became a voice major undergraduate at the University of the Pacific in Stockton and soon acquired a bachelors in Music.
Ueda continued her persistent drive in her music education at Yale University where she received her masters in Conducting, then her doctorate from Indiana University.
Ueda proudly supports her students in their educational journey as musicians.
“I feel like I’m opening up a new world for them,” she said. “I love seeing the enthusiasm of the students and their realization on how hard they have to work to be a really good musician and seeing their progress.”
Ueda believes teaching at Yuba College has inspired her to be a better educator and musician: “Teaching at Yuba College has made me a better musician in the sense that I think that I have developed a better understanding about people and how to bring out the best of the people I am working with.”
Ueda is no doubt a challenging professor who values the education and hard work of her students.
