Yuba College pitcher John Thomas threw a complete game on Wednesday afternoon, March 29, catapulting the 49ers (7-13, 3-7) to a Bay Valley Conference win over Solano (7-11, 2-8), 7-2. John Thomas surrendered two runs, one earned, on six hits, while striking out four and walking two. Thomas improved his record to 2-3, with an ERA of 3.69.
Corey Todhunter smashed his second homerun of the season in the fifth-inning, giving Yuba a 3-1 lead. Yuba busted the game wide open with a Matt Suleski grand slam in the top-half of the seventh-inning. For the season, Suleski is batting .366 with 3 HR’s and 34 RBI’s.
Yuba bat’s were alive-and-well accumulating 16 hits. Centerfielder Steve Shaver went 3-for-3 and is batting .328 for the season. Frank Avilla Jr. had four hits and is batting .316.
