Yuba College took its men’s football program on the road this past weekend to Feather River playing the Eagles, Saturday 10/6/2012. The weather could not have been better at the 5 pm kickoff at beautiful Feather River College stadium.
The 49ers of Yuba College forced a fumble on the game’s first possession and kicked a field goal for the first points of the game for a 3-0 lead. The Eagles played with great intensity, in particularly on defense, forging a 20-3 first half lead. Just before the end of the second quarter Coach Ted Hoal of the 49ers told his quarterback, Zach Hutcheson to “take what they give you for now” in a sideline team meeting.
Coming out for the second half, the 49ers were on a mission. Dominating the game on both sides of the ball they stormed back to take the lead, shutting out the Eagles in the third quarter. Although special teams coverage had been excellent throughout the game by Yuba College, the Eagles popped a kickoff return for a touchdown to swing the momentum of the game midway through the fourth quarter on what seemed to this reporter to be a fluke play. The game was decided 33-25 in favor of Feather River College late.
Our beloved 49er football team is a collection of young men with character and confidence. The coaching staff is devoted to unity and direction. The Prospector shall provide newsworthy focus on the integrity of the program and the quality of our people in it’s further coverage.
Thank you Yuba College Football!
