The Yuba College men’s basketball team picked up a Bay Valley Conference win over the Sierra College Wolverines (6-13, 2-5) on Tuesday night, 67-56.
The 49ers were led by an impressive performance by the 6’8 sophomore Zach Andrews, scoring 21 points and dominating the boards by pulling down 17 rebounds.
Yuba coach Doug Cornelius said, “Andrews is one of the states best rebounders” and his numbers back that up. Andrews is the Bay Valley Conference league’s top rebounder, averaging over 10 rebounds per a game.
Sophomore guard, Jon Sheets, had his long-range game going for him-scoring 15 points from beyond-the-arc and finishing with 21 points.
Also contributing to the win was a strong performance by a few players off the 49ers bench– Chris Thornton, Brian Videau, and Stephen Beasley.
“We had a couple guys come off our bench and picked us up,” Cornelius said.
The teams meet again on February 18, in Rocklin.
