The Yuba College volleyball team came in second in the Bay Valley Conference on November second, losing to Solano Friday, 30-21, 30-22, 25-30, and 30-18. Head coach, Greg Chapman, said at the beginning of the season that Solano would be one of their toughest competitors.
In an interview with the Appeal Democrat, Chapman said, “We just didn’t play well. We will take second and the playoffs are there, but we didn’t play well.” At the conference Lindsey Straolzini had 32 assists and six digs, and Crystal Wolcott had seven kills and one block.
The 49ers made it to the finals of the conference by pulling it together to beat Napa Valley in four sets: 30-25, 25-30, 30-22 and 30-27. Melissa Chapman nailed an ace and an impressive 14 kills. Mariza Quihuis finished with eight kills and three digs. Krystle Wolcott also obtained eight kills and two blocks.
In an interview with the Appeal Democrat, Chapman said, “We have smart hitters, real smart hitters,”
The girls certainly have potential as they gain more experience and learn to work as a team.
