The Yuba College women’s volleyball team faced a strong Sacramento City College on Wednesday, October 20.
Yuba College’s Ashley DeMello had eight kills and three blocks while Deanna Straolzini added six kills. Krystal Gualco finished with four kills and five digs, and setter Rachel Norton had nineteen assists.
However, in the end the 49ers effort wasn’t enough to defeat Sacramento City, which is one of the three teams that control the Bay Valley Conference.
Sacramento City won in three games (30-18, 30-19, 30-19).
On Wednesday, October 27, Yuba College hosted the American River Beavers. The 49ers managed to win one game, but weren’t strong enough to take the match. The Beavers won the match in four games (24-30, 30-14, 30-20, 30-26).
Kristen Jensen led defensively with eleven digs while Captain Lyndsay Nelson added eight. DeMello finished with eighteen kills and Norton contributed thirty assists and seven digs.
Yuba’s record now stands at 1-11 overall and 1-6 in the Bay Valley Conference.
