It was a positive season for Susan Crebbin’s women’s basketball team.
The team improved over last season’s record. The 49ers finished with a 9-17 overall record. “We had a couple of good wins,” said Crebbin. “One over Butte and a good win over Cosumnes River,” stated Crebbin. According to Crebbin, the players worked really hard.
Quatisha Bailey made All-Conference and Marie Nygard and Carrie Bridges both received Honorable Mention.
Bailey scored 437 points, Guard Carrie Bridges was the second-highest scorer at 285 points and Center Marie Nygard drained 209 points. Bailey led the team in rebounds with a total of 249, Nygard grabbed 144 and Guard Melissa Lauppe hauled in 133.
Bridges dished out 70 assists, Lauppe had 33 and Bailey handed out 30.
Bridges led the team with 77 steals, followed by Bailey with 54 and Lauppe had 34 steals. Bridges had 40 blocks and Nygard had 20. For next season, Crebbin feels the team needs to build on the success from this past season.
“Everyone’s ultimate goal is to make playoffs”, said Crebbin. “We were just two spots away from playoffs.”
